SHU Wrestling Opens Season at Binghamton Open

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Sacred Heart wrestling team opened up their 2013-14 season over the weekend at the Binghamton Open.  SHU was one of over 30 teams competing at the highly competitive Binghamton Open.

Leading the way for the Pioneers, freshman TJ Fabian recorded a 4-2 record on his way to placing at the Binghamton open in 5th/6th place. Fabian defeated wrestlers from Lock Haven, Maryland,  and Princeton in his first ever collegiate event.

Sacred Heart recorded 15 wins in his year's Binghamton Open, compared to just one last season. Other Pioneers who recorded victories on Sunday:

Tom Filipkowski – 3 wins

Brendan Goldup  – 2 wins

Kyle Brady - 1 win

Ethan Rheault  – 1 win

Casey Mitchell  – 1 win

Zach Moran (Columbia, CT) – 2 wins

Dan Hayden – 1 win

Sacred Heart is back in action on November 17th when they compete at the East Stroudsburg Open.
