Ferguson and Connelly Earn All-East Honors At IC4A Championships
BRONX, N.Y. – Sean Ferguson (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Christopher Connelly (Medford, N.Y.) posted top-10 finishes for the Sacred Heart men's cross country team Saturday at the IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park, as the Pioneers finished 16th in the team competition.
Ferguson finished second in the five mile race, tying Jeff Lusignan's 2011 finish as the best ever by a Sacred Heart male runner in the IC4A Championship. His time of 25:43.3 is now the second-fastest time by a Pioneer at Van Cortlandt Park. Only Lusignan has run faster, recording a time of 25:39 in 2011. Connelly had an eighth-place finish on Saturday in a time of 24:36. He closes out his decorated career with his second All-East honor to go with two All-New England and three All-NEC honors. His time of 24:36 at Princeton earlier this season ranks as the fastest five mile or 8K time in program history.
With their finishes in the IC4A race, Ferguson and Connelly are the second and third athletes in Sacred Heart men's cross country history to earn All-New England, All-NEC, and All-East honors in the same season. Lusignan accomplished the feat in 2011.
