Sacred Heart head women's basketball coach Ed Swanson named Jen Wedo as an assistant coach on his staff for the 2010-11 season. Wedo has been in the coaching ring since graduating from the University of San Diego in 2003 and brings a wealth of experience on all levels to the Fairfield, Connecticut campus. She will assist with post player development, scouting, academics and camps.
Most recently, at Lafayette, Wedo was responsible for film breakdown, scouting, recruiting and scheduling. She helped lead the Leopards to their first Patriot League Championship appearance in 12 years. She previously served as the head coach at William Woods University, a NAIA Division I institution in Fulton, MO.
Prior to her stint at William Woods, Wedo returned to the West Coast, coaching one season at the University of California-San Diego. She was the top assistant for the 2004-05 season and served as the interim head coach from April through July of that year.
As an undergraduate, Wedo played four years at the guard position for San Diego helping the Toreros to the 2000 West Coast Conference Championship and a NCAA tournament berth her freshman year. Wedo graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and a minor in Sociology from the University.
Wedo jumped into coaching following graduation in 2003, as she began work on her masters and assisted the women's basketball program at East Stroudsburg University. While in the Lehigh Valley, Wedo was named the 2004 Women's Basketball Coaches Association/Women's Sports Foundation National Graduate Assistant of the Year. She completed her Master of Science degree in Sport Management from ESU in 2006.
