    Sacred Heart head women's basketball coach Ed Swanson too part in The Center for Coaching Excellence elite leadership program held at Columbia University last month. Swanson was one of 29 head women's basketball coaches to participate in the invitation-only, two-and-a-half day event.
  • Lauren Hall-Gregory Named Head Coach at NYU

    Sacred Heart women's basketball assistant coach Lauren Hall-Gregory was announced as the new head coach at New York University on Thursday. Hall-Gregory departs SHU after a four-year coaching stint where she helped lead the Pioneers to a pair of Northeast Conference championships and NCAA Tournament berths.

    Blair Koniszewski of the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team is joining the Global Sports Academy this summer for its 2012 Summer Collegiate Basketball Tour. The rising-junior will play in Belgium and Germany this August along with fellow NCAA Division I players.

The Pioneers are the #13 seed in the Des Moines Regional and will be joined by #5 seeded Georgetown and the #12 seed Fresno State on the other half of the bracket.

In front of the third largest crowd in Sacred Heart women’s basketball history, the Pioneers topped Monmouth 58-48 for their third title in the last seven years.

Rookie Gabrielle Washington had the hot hand, totaling 23 points and making the big shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

    Callan Taylor’s (Overland Park, Kan.) 29 points was not enough to lift the Pioneers past LIU Brooklyn Monday night. The Blackbirds handed the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team just their third conference loss of the season 74-68 as the Pioneers’ record falls to 20-7 overall and 13-3 in NEC play. With the loss, Sacred Heart is now tied for first place with the Quinnipiac Bobcats with two games left in the season.

The Pioneers hold onto first place boosting their conference record to 13-2 and are now 20-6 overall.
