Sacred Heart head women's basketball coach Ed Swanson too part in The Center for Coaching Excellence elite leadership program held at Columbia University last month. Swanson was one of 29 head women's basketball coaches to participate in the invitation-only, two-and-a-half day event.

Sacred Heart women's basketball assistant coach Lauren Hall-Gregory was announced as the new head coach at New York University on Thursday. Hall-Gregory departs SHU after a four-year coaching stint where she helped lead the Pioneers to a pair of Northeast Conference championships and NCAA Tournament berths.

The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team won its third Northeast Conference Championship Sunday afternoon, claiming the NEC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. In front of the third largest crowd in Sacred Heart women’s basketball history, the Pioneers topped Monmouth 58-48 for their third title in the last seven years.

Callan Taylor (Overland Park, Kan.) led the way with a game-leading 16 points, including the shot that gave Sacred Heart back the lead with a little over one minute left to play.

Callan Taylor Puts Up 29 Points in SHU Loss at LIU Brooklyn 74-68
Callan Taylor’s (Overland Park, Kan.) 29 points was not enough to lift the Pioneers past LIU Brooklyn Monday night. The Blackbirds handed the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team just their third conference loss of the season 74-68 as the Pioneers’ record falls to 20-7 overall and 13-3 in NEC play. With the loss, Sacred Heart is now tied for first place with the Quinnipiac Bobcats with two games left in the season.

The Pioneers hold onto first place boosting their conference record to 13-2 and are now 20-6 overall.

Taylor picked-up her 52nd career double double adding 10 rebounds to her 25 points and tied her career-high with five three-point makes.

For kids in grades 1st through 8th, the Pioneers have a Kids Clinic set to start at 10:00 am through 11:30 am followed by free Coaches Clinic from 11:30 am through 1:00 pm. Both clinics will take place in the William H. Pitt Center.

Pioneer Women's Hoop Announces 2011-12 Schedule
Head coach Ed Swanson announced that the Sacred Heart women's basketball program has put together an 11-game non-conference schedule featuring match-ups against teams from the Atlantic-10, Patriot League, American East, MAAC and Ivy League in 2011-12.
