Pioneers Host Cal Poly in an East Coast vs. West Coast Match Up Sunday at 1

The Storyline...Thursday's 80-55 win over Saint Peter's  boosted Sacred Heart to 8-1 this season and best start in program history. They currently are perfect at home in the Pitt Center with three wins over Columbia, Lafayette and Stony Brook. The Pioneer offense has been turning of the heat lately as they are averaging 65.5 points in the last four games. They look to continue the hot streak this afternoon against the 3-4 Cal Poly Mustangs, who were picked to win the Big West Conference in the preseason poll. This is the first time the teams will be meeting.

The Series...This is the first time Sacred Heart and Cal Poly will be playing each other, and the first time the Pioneers face any team from the Big West Conference.

Scouting the Mustangs... Cal Poly is 3-4 this season. They put up a good fight in all four losses, only averaging an margin of 8.75. They opened the season against Oregon where both teams put up high numbers. The Mustangs were handed the loss though in the 102-93 game.

NEC Player of the Week... Callan Taylor was named Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week for the second time this year after three stellar performances including two double-doubles in back-to-back wins against Stony Brook and Central Connecticut. She was also named NEC Player of the Week the first week of the season. 

NEC Rookie of the Week... Gabrielle Washington was named Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. Washington continued her freshman campaign last week, scoring double-digit points in all three games. In the 55-40 win over Central Connecticut, she tallied a career-high 17 points.

Home Sweet Home... Defeating Columbia, Lehigh and Stony Brook makes Sacred Heart a perfect 3-0 at home in the William H. Pitt Center for the 7th time since opening the Pitt Center in 1997.
