Gabrielle Washington Receives Her Fourth NEC Rookie of the Week Nod

Fairfield, Conn.—Gabrielle Washington (Mesa, Ariz.) picks up her fourth Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honor for her strong offensive performance during NEC Rivalry Week.

With 21 points at home on Saturday and 27 at Bryant Wednesday, Washington becomes the first rookie this season to have back-to-back 20-plus point games. Her 27 points in Sacred Heart's 74-67 triumph over Bryant, set the NEC single-game scoring season high for a rookie.

The Mesa, Ariz. native shot an impressive 16-18 from the charity stripe in the two game set. In Saturday's 79-64 win, she was a perfect 10-for-10 from the line, making her the first Pioneer to do so since Alisa Apo in the 2009 NEC Championship game against Saint Francis (PA).

En route to her 27-point performance, Washington hit three of her four three point attempts. The freshman guard leads the league with a 48.5 three-point field goal percentage.
Washington and the rest of the women's basketball team hits the court again on Saturday in Brooklyn Heights taking on St. Francis (NY).
