Kiley Evans' (Cazenovia, N.Y.) hot hand yielded astronomical shooting numbers and helped Sacred Heart to a two-game sweep of NEC competition last week. The senior guard shot 76 percent from the field and averaged 22.5 points per game in wins over Monmouth and Bryant. Evans scored 19 points, on an 8-for-11 shooting clip, and grabbed four rebounds as Sacred Heart downed Monmouth in what was a rematch of the 2012 NEC Championship Game. Two days after sinking 3 of 5 three-point attempts against the Hawks on NEC-TV, Evans made 4 of 7 shots from downtown in a runaway victory over Bryant. She victimized the Bulldogs for 26 points, on 11-for-14 shooting, and reached a career a milestone in the process. With 13:25 remaining in the eventual 62-44 victory, Evans dialed long distance and connected for the 998th, 999th and 1,000th points of her career. Evans, whose efforts helped the defending NEC champion Pioneers win their fourth straight game following a 1-3 start to league play, made 19 of 25 field goal attempts, secured seven rebounds and logged three assists during SHU's two-win week.
