FAIRFIELD, CONN. (February 13, 2014)—The Sacred Heart women's basketball team will play its annual Play4Kay game this Saturday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. when they host Mount St. Mary's in the William H. Pitt Center.
Proceeds from raffle ticket sales, and the sale of memorial ribbons will benefit the CT Challenge, a foundation which funds programs for cancer survivors. Fans can buy raffle tickets and ribbons in the lobby of the Pitt Center. Those wearing pink will receive one free raffle ticket.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. The Fund is named for Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away on January 24, 2009, after facing her third bout with the disease.
