Pioneers Lose Battle with Bryant
The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team lost Saturday afternoon’s battle to Bryant 61-59 in the William H. Pitt Center. Hannah Kimmel (Harpursville, N.Y.) led all players with 22 points as the Pioneers fall to 9-11 overall and 7-2 in Northeast Conference play. While SHU put up a good fight in a game where the lead changed hands 12 times, Bryant remained undefeated in conference and improves to 12-8 on the season with the win.

Adaysha Williams (LaCrosse, Wis.) led the team with 17 points as the Pioneers improve their win streak to seven straight games, moving to 9-10 on the season and 7-1 in Northeast Conference play.

The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team staged a fourth-quarter comeback leading to a double-overtime win over Central Connecticut State, 61-57, in the Detrick Gymnasium Monday night. Hannah Kimmel (Harpursville, N.Y.) led the game with her seventh double-double of the year totaling 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds as the Pioneers improve to 7-10 overall and 5-1 in Northeast Conference play. The loss drops CCSU to 5-12 on the season and 2-4 in conference.

Hannah Kimmel (Harpursville, N.Y.) etched her name in Sacred Heart women’s basketball history becoming the 19th Pioneer to join the 1,000 career point club Saturday afternoon, as Kelcey Castro (Fairlawn, N.J.) led the Pioneers to a 68-51 defeat of St. Francis Brooklyn with a career-best 19 points. The win improves SHU to 6-10 on the season and 4-1 in Northeast Conference play, while the Terriers fall to 3-13 overall and 0-5 against league opponents.

Alissa Tarsi’s (Clinton, N.J.) led the Pioneers fourth-quarter comeback tallying ten points in the stanza as the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team outlasted Fairleigh Dickinson 72-61 Saturday afternoon in the William H. Pitt Center. The senior led the team with a career-best tying 18 points in the contest as SHU improves to 2-1 in Northeast Conference play and 4-10 overall. FDU’s (4-12, 1-2 NEC) Brianna Thomas led the game with 19 points.

The win, which marks an end to the Pioneers’ three-game slide, improves SHU to 3-10 on the season and 1-1 against league foes, while the Red Flash drops to 3-10 and 1-1.

The RS-junior shot .857 (6-7) from downtown, and .750 (8-12) from the floor, for a game-leading 22 points in the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team’s 78-63 loss to Robert Morris in the Sewall Center. The loss drops the Pioneers to 2-10 and 0-1 in Northeast Conference play, while the Colonials improve to 7-5, 1-0 NEC.

Alissa Tarsi (Clinton, N.J.) and Kelcey Castro (Fairlawn, N.J.) led the Pioneers with 10 points each as the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team fell to the State University of New York Buffalo 66-53 Tuesday night in the non-conference finale. Tarsi shot .444 (4-9) from the floor and pulled down seven rebounds as SHU completes the non-conference schedule 2-9.

The RS-junior fell just one rebound shy of her sixth double-double of the season as the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team fell 83-46 to Penn State at the Bryce Jordan Center. Lerae Ettienne (Kensington, Md.) led the Pioneers with a season-best 16 points as SHU falls to 2-8 on the season.

Shelby Hickey (Littleton, Colo.) led SHU for the second straight game with 11 points shooting 57.1% (4-for7) from the floor. The loss drops the Pioneers to 1-6 this season.

The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team fell to Louisiana Lafayette 60-58 in an overtime battle Saturday afternoon in the team’s final game of the San Juan Shootout in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Alissa Tarsi (Clinton, N.J.) and Hannah Kimmel (Harpursville, N.Y.) led the game with 18 points each; both recording her second double-double of the tournament and shooting 50.5% from the floor as the Pioneers fall to 1-4 this season.

A 28-point fourth quarter propelled the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team to a come-from-behind 71-62 win over Coastal Carolina for the Pioneers’ first victory of the season in game one for the San Juan Shootout. Adaysha Williams led the charge tallying 11 of her game-leading 21 points in the final period. The junior was perfect from the charity stripe knocking down all 13 of her free throws, and shot .571 from the floor (4-7) as SHU improves to 1-3 on the season.

Tarsi recorded the first double-double of her career leading the Pioneers and tying for a game high 17 points.
