Outstanding Week Leads to Tarsi's First NEC Player of the Week Nod

Alissa Tarsi (Clinton, N.J.) continued her stellar senior season by spearheading back-to-back victories with two career highs and a pair of double-doubles to earn the first Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week award of her career. The veteran post player averaged 18.5 points, 16.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest during a two-win stretch that lifted the Pioneers into sole possession of first place in the Northeast Conference standings. Strengthening her grip on the NEC lead in field goal percentage (.555), Tarsi connected at 60 percent from the floor (12-for-20) during the two home games. She sank Nutmeg State rival Central Connecticut by pouring in a career-high 23 points and pulling down 15 rebounds on Saturday. Tarsi connected at a 9-for-13 clip from the field and went a perfect 5-for-5 at the line in the 79-69 triumph. Two days, later the Garden State product tallied 14 points and secured a career-best 18 caroms to propel the Pioneers to a 62-52 victory over Robert Morris. She sparked a decisive run against RMU, scoring on three consecutive fourth-quarter possessions to turn a 44-41 deficit into a three-point advantage with 3:17 remaining. Tarsi, who is shooting 84.2 percent from the charity stripe this season, made 13 of 15 free throw attempts last week.
