Kimmel Wins Second Straight NEC Player of the Week Award, Third in Four Weeks

Hannah Kimmel's (Harpursville, N.Y.) continued production helped extend the Pioneers' win streak to nine straight games and earned her second straight Choice Hotels NEC Player of Award. This is her third Player of the Week nod in the last four weeks, and the fourth consecutive for Sacred Heart as Alissa Tarsi (Clinton, N.J.) earned the first of her career two weeks ago.

The small forward averaged 24.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per outing last week as Sacred Heart completed its regular season schedule with victories over two NEC Tournament qualifiers. Spearheading SHU's effort to sew up the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament, Kimmel connected at a 48.4 percent clip from the field, including an 8-for-18 sample from downtown. The do-it-all junior, who has eclipsed the 20-point mark in each of her past three games, poured in a season-high 28 points and made a season-best five steals in an 80-67 home win over Saint Francis U. Kimmel played all 40 minutes in Monday's regular season finale at Mount St. Mary's, logging 21 points and seven rebounds in the 60-52 triumph. She was on the court for 79 of a possible 80 minutes last week.
