    Queens, N.Y.- The Sacred Heart womens basketball team would drop a 72-43 game to the St. John Red Storm in the opening round of the WNIT. Hannah Kimmel would lead SHU in her final game of her career posting her 33rd career double-double. The Pioneers close out their season 17-15.
  • Pioneers Take On St. Johns In Opening Round Of WNIT

    The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team have earned back-to-back bids to the WNIT tournament, as look to take down a familiar foe, in St. Johns. The Pioneers rounded up the season placing second in the regular season, and falling in the NEC semi finals to Bryant. The Red Storm of St. Johns finished fourth in the Big East with a 20-11 record, and 11-7 among conference opponents. This will mark the 10th consecutive year and the 12th time in the last 13 seasons, the Red Storm will make an appearance in the post season.

    Fairfield, CT. – The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team hosted the Bulldogs of Bryant in the NEC Semi-Finals, as Bryant picked up a 75-68 upset over the Pioneers. SHU was led by senior Adaysha Williams who put up a career high 26 points. The Pioneers finished the season 17-14 (13-5).
  • Pioneers Host Bryant In NEC Semi-Final Matchup

    The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team brought their “A” game to their opening round of the NEC tournament, as they took down St. Francis Brooklyn 90-69. Hannah Kimmel lit up the scoreboard with 32 points, while Katherine Haines and Kimmel both recorded double-doubles. The Pioneers now move onto the semi-finals as they look to take down the Bulldogs of Bryant at 7pm in the William H. Pitt Center.

    Fairfield, CT- The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team picked up a huge, NEC quarterfinal victory over the Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn 90-69. Hannah Kimmel finished the night with a new season high 32 points, and recorded her sixth double-double of the season. Katherine Haines also ended the night with her tenth double-double of the season ending with 15 points, and 11 boards. The Pioneers are back at home this Wednesday as they host the NEC semifinals at 7:00pm in the William H. Pitt center.

    The Sacred Heart Women’s Basketball team was honored with a number of awards to conclude the NEC Regular season. The Pioneers finished the season with a 16-13 record, and second place in the NEC with a record of 13-5. The Pioneers open up the 2017 NEC Tournament Sunday as they take on St. Francis Brooklyn at 1:00pm.

    The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team took the road to take on defending NEC Champions Robert Morris 66-56. Katherine Haines had a career setting night as she posted her eighth double-double of the season. Haines snagged a new career high 18 rebounds, and set a new career high 23 points. The Pioneers finish their regular season Monday on ESPN3 as they take on Saint Francis U.

    The top seeded Sacred Heart Pioneers were selected as the NEC wildcard ESPN3 game to close out the regular season against #3 Saint Francis U. The Pioneers played the Red Flash earlier this season and came out victorious 73-63 in a New Year’s Eve showdown.

    Fairfield, CT.- The Women’s Basketball team held their annual Pack the Pitt game, as they took on the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights. The Pioneers would go on to pick up a 68-60 overtime victory. Katherine Haines recorded her seventh double-double of the night, finishing with 20 points, and 10 boards. Three Pioneers would finish in double-digits as Hannah Kimmel would record 13, and Kelcey Castro would finish with 10. The Pioneers head into the final weekend of regular season as they take on Robert Morris, and Saint Francis U.

The Pioneers currently sit at 12-3 in the Northeast Conference, and are currently on a three game winning streak, most recently defeating the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn. The Pioneers are 8-0 in the Pitt Center during Conference play and look to keep the trend, with a win over the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson this Monday at 6:00pm in the annual Pack the Pitt game on ESPN3.

    Brooklyn, N.Y.- The Sacred Heart Pioneers picked up their third straight win over the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn after a late fourth quarter comeback. The Pioneers were led by Hannah Kimmel would post 15 points in the contest. Three Pioneers finished in double digits, as Adaysha Williams tallied 10 points, and Kelcey Castro registered 12 points. The Pioneers are home against Fairleigh Dickinson this Monday as ESPN3 come to the William H. Pitt Center at 6:00pm Pack the Pitt game.

    Sophomore Katherine Haines, earned NEC Player of the Week for the second time this season, after leading Sacred Heart to a 2-0 weekend. The Pioneers clinched a spot in the NEC tournament and currently sit at 11-3 in NEC play, tied for first with Robert Morris. Haines posted back-to-back double-doubles over the weekend, and averaged 19.5 PPG. The Pioneers are back in action Saturday, as they take on the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds at 3:00pm.

The Pioneers improve to 14-11 (11-3) and now sit at the top spot of the NEC with Robert Morris. The Pioneers are on the road Saturday as they take on LIU Brooklyn.

    The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team comes off a big win over Central Connecticut State, and are now in a three way tie for the number one spot. The Pioneers look to take on St. Francis Brooklyn Monday at 6:00pm on ESPN 3. The Pioneers have clinched a spot in the NEC tournament. Sacred Heart has made the tournament every year since joining the NEC in the 1999-00 season.

(February 11, 2017)— The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team redeemed their loss to Central Connecticut State, as they blew the Blue Devils out of the water, handing them their largest margin of defeat in conference play, with a score of 82-61. Katherine Haines lead the Pioneers as she posted her fifth double-double of the season, as she ended the night with 22 points, and 15 rebounds. The Pioneers now clinch a spot in the NEC tournament and move on to play St. Francis Brooklyn Monday at 6:00pm.

Katherine Haines would record a new career high 22 points as she shot 9-15 from the floor. Adaysha Williams would finish in double digits as well recording 13 points for the Pioneers.

Kelcey Castro who recorded a new season high 17 points led Sacred Heart. Three Pioneers finished the night in the double digits as Hannah Kimmel posted 15 points, and Katherine Haines tallied 14.

The Pioneers were lead by Hannah Kimmel who finished the night with 20 points; also posting double digit scoring was SHU’s Katherine Haines who finished the night with 10 points.
