The Sacred Heart women's basketball team look to capitalize on a successful regular season as they embark in their 18 consecutive NEC tournament appearance. The Pioneers are set to take the seventh seeded Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn at 1:00pm in the William H. Pitt Center.

 

Inside the Series...

  • SHU leads the all time series with St. Francis Brooklyn 27-12, and currently have a four game winning streak after sweeping them last season, and beating them twice this season.
  • The matchup sits a 6-3 in the past three seasons for SHU. The last time the Terriers picked up a win over SHU was 3/8/15 in a postseason game, ending 77-59
  • SHU's Adaysha Williams and Kimmel have started in all nine games against the Terriers and go into Monday's game with a 6-3 record.

  • St. Francis Brooklyn comes into Sunday's contest with an 8-21 record. The Terriers enter the post season as the seven seed, owning a 6-12 record in the NEC

The Pioneers secured the number two spot in the NEC tournament landing them a minimum of two home games in the tournament. Sacred Heart ended the regular season 9-0 at home against conference opponents. However, St. Francis Brooklyn has posted four road wins this year among conference opponents including a 56-49 triumph over No. 1 Robert Morris on January 7th.

 

Haines Seeing Double...

Katherine Haines closed out the regular season posting three straight double-doubles. Haines now is averaging a double-double against conference opponents with 15.2 points per game, and 10.4 rebounds per game.

 

Last Chance...

Senior's Hannah Kimmel, Adaysha William, Shelby Hickey, and Kelcey Castro all come into their final chance at a NEC Championship. The quad of Seniors have made a post season run in all four of their season, The Pioneers fell in the quarter finals in 2014, quarter finals in 2015, and the finals in 2016. Could 2017 be the year for SHU?

 

Sour Taste...

The last time these two teams matched up in the NEC Tournament quarterfinals the Terriers came out with a 77-59 win in 2015. The Pioneers last conference win against St. Francis Brooklyn came in 2013, where they picked up a 64-38 victory.

Head Coach Jessica Mannetti has posted a 6-3 record against the Terriers thus far in her time at SHU. Mannetti swept St. Francis Brooklyn this season and looks to keep the trend going in the quarterfinal matchup with the Terriers.
