Pioneer Women's Basketball Signs Three to National Letters of Intent

FAIRFIELD, CT (November 16, 2009) - Sacred Heart head women's basketball coach Ed Swanson announced that Ericka Norman (Chino Hills, CA / Chino Hills H.S.), Enjoli Bland (Queen Creek, AZ / Basha H.S.) and Elise Lorenz (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA / Santa Margarita Catholic H.S.) have signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period and will join the Pioneers in the fall of 2010.
"With this class we filled our needs in the post position with the signing of Enjoli and Elise and at the same filled our need in the back court in securing an electric and dynamic point guard in Norman who will be able to lead us for the next four years," stated Swanson. "All three are high quality student-athletes that will maintain not only our excellence on the basketball floor but in the classroom."
"Our recent success has helped to expand our recruiting efforts," commented Swanson. "Recruiting coordinator Lauren Hall-Gregory with the assistance our other assistant Shannon Bush has worked hard and diligent in securing what we feel is an exciting and versatile incoming class."
Norman is a 5'9", point guard out of Chino Hills High School where she averaged 17.6 points, 5.2 steals, 4.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds last season as a junior. A two-time team captain, she was named to the All-CIF first team last season. Norman has been voted her team's MVP three years running heading into her senior season. As a freshman, she garnered All-Inland Valley first team honors and has repeated that feat as a sophomore and junior. She is also a two-time All-Sierra League first team selection. Last season, she led the Lady Huskies to their third CIF playoff appearance, advancing to the quarterfinals in the Division 1, CIF Southern Section. During the playoffs, she averaged 21 points per game, 5 steals and 6 assists. Norman will head into her senior year she is already Chino Hills High School's career leader in points, field goal percentage, free throws, steals and assists.
"Ericka is a dynamic point guard that will help us right from the start. She can lead our up-tempo pace and can bring a defensive intensity to the court."
Bland is a 6'2", forward/center from Basha High School where she led the 5A Central Region in rebounding with 286 (8.9 rpg) as a junior. Bland was an honorable mention 5A Central Region All-League player her sophomore and junior seasons. Off the court, she is a member of the Black Student Union, currently holding the position of Historian, as well as the Leadership Club.
"Enjoli is a really athletic post player who will give us a physical presence in the middle. She will strengthen our rebounding efforts and should be a presence immediately for the Pioneers."
Lorenz is a 6'3" center from Santa Margarita Catholic High School. She is entering her fourth season on the varsity squad after averaging 7.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game last season. As a junior, Lorenz earned CIF Division III AA second team honors and was an honorable mention choice to the All-Trinity League team. In the classroom, Lorenz is a four-year California Scholarship Federation student-athlete.
