Nicole Trudell (Coventry, RI) posted the highest overall frame average at 20.28 of any Northeast Conference bowler competing at the Morgan State Invitational to take home both the NEC bowler and rookie of the week honors. The freshman right-hander filled 88.8 percent of her frames during the three-day event as the Pioneers finished in fourth place overall. Trudell struck in more than 50 percent of her first balls, registering 61 total strikes. She notched a 194.8 average over five traditional games and broke the 200 barrier on three occasions. During the baker game portion of the event Trudell averaged 20.89 pins over 66 total games.
The freshman filled 88.8 percent of all frames en route to her fourth rookie of the week award of the 2010-11 campaign, the most of any athlete. Trudell is the second Pioneer this season to win the NEC bowler of the week distinction, along with two-time honoree Sarah Pelletier (Lewiston, ME). The SHU women's bowling team returns to action for the third Northeast Conference meet of the season March 5-6. The Pioneers will begin play in a tie for first place in the NEC standings with a 14-4 record in league action.
