Jackie Carbonetto (Blauvelt, N.Y.) of the Sacred Heart Bowling team finished fourth at the 2013 xbowling Intercollegiate Singles Championships Tuesday afternoon. The senior earned a two-round bye in match play after totaling 1661 in eight rounds of qualifying for a top four finish, before falling to Kristina Mickelson, who was the hot bowler heading into match play, 720-618.
"I am proud of her," said Sacred Heart Head Bowling Coach Becky Kregling. "She started off slowly in qualifying, but kept her composure and fought back to finish in the top four. She played well, but her draw was against another quality player."
The Blauvelt, N.Y. native averaged 207.625 throughout qualifying with her best game being her last as she rolled 246. She continued throwing the ball well into match pay, averaging 206 in the three-game single elimination round.
Carbonetto joins the rest of the Pioneers later in the week as they compete in the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championshipsto close out the season.
"I look forward to flying out tomorrow with the entire team and ending Jackie and Meghan (Pero)'s years at Sacred Heart on a positive note," said Kregling.
