  • SHU Bowling's GPA Ranks Top 10 in the Nation

    The Sacred Heart University bowling team ranked seventh in the nation with a team grade point average of 3.47 for the 2013-14 academic year. The Pioneers are one of 20 teams with a GPA of 3.20 or higher honored by the National Tenpin Coaches Association Monday for their work in the classroom. With a combined GPA of 3.66, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore claimed the top spot this year.
  • Eight Pioneers Earn NTCA Academic All-American Honors

    FAIRFIELD, CONN. (June 16, 2014)—Eight members of the Sacred Heart bowling team were recognized by the National Tenpin Coaches Association Monday. Three-time All-American Nicole Trudell’s (Coventry, R.I.), who graduated this past May, success on the lanes and in the classroom earned her first ever spot on the Academic All-NTCA first team, while seven of her teammates were named NTCA Academic All-American Honorable Mention.
  • Sacred Heart Bowling Finishes Top Six at USBC Nationals

    The Sacred Heart bowling team finished in the top six in the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championship in Reno, Nev. this weekend. After being just one of four teams undefeated after day one, the Pioneers were knocked out of the double-elimination bracket by the eventual champion Robert Morris-Illinois and runner-up Lindenwood.

  • Pioneers Ranked 12th in Final NTCA Poll of the Season

    A week before they head to the 2014 USBC Intercollegiate Team Championship in Reno, Nev., the Sacred Heart bowling team is ranked twelfth among the NCAA Division I ranks for the third straight month in the final National Tenpin Coaches Association poll of the season. Also for the third time, Arkansas State, who took the No. 1 seed during the NCAA Selection Show on March 26, claimed the top spot.
  • Nicole Trudell Earns a Spot on the 2014 NEC All-Tournament Team

    Nicole Trudell (Coventry, R.I.) of the Sacred Heart bowling team was named to the 2014 Northeast Conference All-Tournament Team Monday afternoon. Despite the team’s early exit after the first two rounds, the senior put forth impressive numbers.

  • Pioneer Bowling Finish NEC Championship Tournament with Pair of Losses

    The Sacred Heart bowling team was eliminated from the 2014 Northeast Conference Championship Saturday afternoon. After falling to Fairleigh Dickinson 4-1 in the first round of the double-elimination tournament, the Pioneers fell to tournament host and No. 1 seeded Saint Francis U 4-2 in the second round.

    The Sacred Heart women’s bowling team was once again ranked twelfth in the country in the March National Tenpin Coaches Association poll. Receiving all 27 first-place votes, Arkansas State University topped the list.
  • SHU Bowling Earns Bid to USBC National Championship

    Amongst a field of nationally ranked teams, the Sacred Heart bowling team finished second at the 2014 xBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectional qualifier in Allentown, Pa. this past weekend earning a bid to the Championship in Reno, Nev. April 16-18. Nicole Trudell (Coventry, R.I.) led the Pioneers overall averaging 20.99 pins per frame in the total pinfall tournament.
  • SHU Bowling Closes Out Regular Season Finished 12th at Music City Classic

    Out of a field of 29, which feature 19 of the top 20 teams in the country, the Sacred Heart bowling team finished twelfth at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University.

    Going 4-4 at the final Northeast Conference meet of the season, the Sacred Heart bowling team moves into fourth place in the conference clinching a spot in the 2014 NEC Championship.
  • Pioneers Finish Third at ECAC Championship

    The Sacred Heart bowling team went 4-1 at the ECAC Championship hosted by Adelphi in Mineola, N.Y. Saturday. The Pioneers tallied 4,449 total pin fall for a third place finish. Senior Nicole Trudell (Coventry, N.Y.), the only Pioneer to bowl all five games, led the team with 891 pins.
  • SHU Bowling Ranked 12 in NTCA Poll

    The Sacred Heart bowling team was ranked twelfth among the NCAA Division I ranks in a poll released Thursday by the National Tenpin Coaches Association. For the second consecutive month, Arkansas State topped the list garnering 21 of the 24 first-place votes after winning their own Mid-Winter Classic.
  • Hoffman Named All-Tournament Second Team as Pioneers Finish 12th at Kutztown Invitational

    The Sacred Heart bowling team finished twelfth at the Kutztown Invitational this past weekend. The Pioneers went 7-8 over three days of competition, qualifying for the 11 seed heading into match-play on Sunday. After defeating LIU Brooklyn 4-1 in the best of seven match-play, SHU dropped the next two to Kutztown (4-3) and Monmouth (4.5-1.5).
  • Pioneers Finish Third at Jeannette Lee Invitational

    The Sacred Heart bowling team went 11-2 this weekend, finishing in third place at the Jeannette Lee Invitational at Bowl American South West Lanes in Midlothian, Va. The Pioneers, who only recorded one loss in two days of qualifying, fell in the semi-final match to St. Francis Brooklyn 4-1.
  • Pioneers 10-2 at UMES Hawk Classic

    Freshman Lauren Hoffman led the Sacred Heart bowling team averaging 19.54 points per frame and made 93% of her spares at the UMES Hawk Classic this weekend in Millsboro, Del. The Pioneers were the comeback story of the weekend. After dropping the first two matches of the three-day tournament, SHU went on to win the next 10 to finish the weekend 10-2.

    The Sacred Heart bowling team finished fifth this past weekend at the first Northeast Conference meet of the 2013-14 season after going 3-6 against conference opponents at Bowl-O-Rama in Reading, Penn.
  • Trudell and Pioneers Have Strong Showing at FDU Jamboree

    Senior Nicole Trudell (Coventry, R.I.) was named to the All-Tournament team this past weekend at the FDU Jamboree after shooting 1302 for her six games on Saturday. Her score was the third highest in the field of 132 bowlers and only 16 pins out of first place. Freshman Lauren Hoffman averaged 203 for the weekend, and was one of only 14 bowlers who averaged over 200.
  • SHU Bowling Lends a Helping Hand at Annual Fall Fair

    The Sacred Heart women’s bowling team spent their weekend working at the New Canaan Nature Center’s annual Fall Fair. This is the sixth year the Pioneer bowling team has volunteered at the fair.

    The Sacred Heart women’s bowling team was picked fourth in the 2013 Northeast Conference preseason poll released Thursday afternoon. Saint Francis U beat out defending champion Adelphi and perennial power house Fairleigh Dickinson for the top spot in the poll collecting five first place votes.
