Eight Pioneers Earn NTCA Academic All-American Honors

FAIRFIELD, CONN. (June 16, 2014)—Eight members of the Sacred Heart bowling team were recognized by the National Tenpin Coaches Association Monday. Three-time All-American Nicole Trudell's (Coventry, R.I.), who graduated this past May, success on the lanes and in the classroom earned her first ever spot on the Academic All-NTCA first team, while seven of her teammates were named NTCA Academic All-American Honorable Mention.


Along with Trudell, Allison DeStasio (Lewes, Del.), Lauren Hoffman (Monroe Township, N.J.), Mikaela Marbot (Buskirk, N.Y.), Chevi Panzanella (Brewster, N.Y.), Jayna Tartaglia (Rye Brook, N.Y.), Amanda Tyrrell (Selden, N.Y.) and Kristin Zimmerman (Plantation, Fl.) were tabbed as NTCA Academic All-Americans.


The NTCA honored 15 student-athletes with first, second and third team mention based on both academic and athletic performance. Eighty-four student-athletes from 19 schools were named Academic All-American. To be honored, student-athletes had to achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.4 during the recent academic year.
