FAIRFIELD, CONN. (July 21, 2014)—The Sacred Heart University bowling team ranked seventh in the nation with a team grade point average of 3.47 for the 2013-14 academic year. The Pioneers are one of 20 teams with a GPA of 3.20 or higher honored by the National Tenpin Coaches Association Monday for their work in the classroom. With a combined GPA of 3.66, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore claimed the top spot this year.
"I am extremely proud the team's consistent hard work in the classroom," said Head Coach Becky Kregling. "An honor like this demonstrates that the effort they put in really does pay off."
Earlier in the off-season, eight Pioneers earned individual NTCA academic honors. Nicole Trudell, who graduated this past May, earned a spot on the NTCA All-Academic First Team, while seven of her teammates landed spots on the NTCA Honor Roll.
