After Stow helped keep the first half scoreless by turning away a number of Golden Ram opportunities, West Chester scored first on a second-half goal by Lauren Schott at the 44:28 mark. Stef Mirri assisted on the play off a penalty corner, setting Schott up for her first goal of the season.
The Pioneers answered at the 49:41 mark on Melillo's goal, as the junior forward found the back of the net off a penalty stroke to tie the game. However, West Chester came back with goals by Leah Angstadt at the 53:04 mark and Nicole Fiorella at the 54:59 mark. Angstadt's goal was unassisted, as she knocked down a Sacred Heart clearing attempt before slamming in what proved to be the game-winner. A little more than three minutes later, Kelsi Lykens set up Fiorella to sneak in a reverse chip under the crossbar for her third goal of the season.
The Pioneers are next in action next Friday, Sept. 3, when they visit the Yale Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m.
