Pioneer Field Hockey Announces Finalized Incoming Freshman Class

(Fairfield, CT) – The Sacred Heart Pioneer Field Hockey team has announced the finalized incoming committed freshman class for the 2011 season.

Laura McCormick (West Windsor, NJ), Mallory Nelson (Oakhurst, NJ), Brooke Oliver (Red Hill, PA) all have enrolled at Sacred Heart, and will be on the 2011 SHU Field Hockey roster for their freshmen seasons.  They join Kylee Lowndes (Simsbury, CT), Sarah Bergman (Blandon, PA), and Rachel Leszkowicz (Gilbertsville, PA), all of whom signed National Letters of Intent earlier this season, as the incoming Sacred Heart Field Hockey class of 2015.

McCormick, who can play midfield or defense, was the captain and team MVP her  junior and senior seasons at West Windsor Plainsboro High School South.  She was also named to the First Team Central Jersey Field Hockey Association and the All County team her junior and senior seasons, as well as the All Area team as a senior.

Nelson , who can shift between the midfield and forward positions, was her high school captain at Ocean Township.  She was named First Team All-Shore her senior season, when she also played in the Senior All Star Game.  She was also named to the Coaches All Division team her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.  As a freshman, her team won the Division Championship.

Oliver, both a defender and midfielder, captained her Upper Perkiomen High School Field Hockey team.  She was an All Area Honorable Mention he junior and senior years.  Her team was PAC Ten Runner up in both 2008 and 2009, District Runner Up in 2010, and advanced to States in 2010.
