Pioneer Field Hockey Loses at Yale 9-1
(New Haven, CT) - The Sacred Heart University Field Hockey team lost 9-1 to Yale on Sunday afternoon. Leah Salindong (Spring City, PA) scored the Pioneers' only goal, breaking up the shutout at 67:15 with an unassisted goal.
Yale took an early lead at 6:36 on a goal by Dinah Landshut, set up by Georgia Holland. Mia Rosati and Kirsten Krebs scored unassisted goals at 21:30 and 26:46 respectively, and Taylor Sankovich followed with a goal off a penalty corner assisted by Landshut and Erica Borgo at 30:47 to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Sankovich scored the first goal of the second half at 38:00 the same way, off a penalty corner set up by Landshut and Borgo. Rosati scored her second goal at 45:11, chasing Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT) from the game. Stow made nine saves on 15 shots on goal in almost 49 minutes in net. Kelsey Cox (Monroe, CT) relieved her in goal, making three saves on six shots on goal. The Bulldogs closed out their scoring with goals by Gabby Garcia, Erin Carter, and Mary Beth Barham. Landshut finished with a goal and three assists.
The Pioneers travel across town to take on Fairfield on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
