Pioneers Fall to Fairfield 2-0

(Fairfield, CT)  - The Sacred Heart University Field Hockey team lost 2-0 to the Fairfield Stags in a cross-town non-conference match-up Wednesday afternoon.

Christy Starsinic scored both goals in the first half by the Stags, the first coming early.  She stole a pass and broke in for a goal 55 seconds in for a 1-0 Fairfield lead.  She dribbled in from the left for another unassisted goal at 27:10 of the first.

Fairfield outshot SHU 15-3 for the game.  Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT) made ten saves, including eight in the second half to keep the Pioneers in the game.

The Pioneers play their first game at Campus Field Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. against Lehigh.
