(Fairfield, CT) – Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT) made eight saves, however the Lock Haven Lady Eagles defeated the Sacred Heart University Field Hockey team 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Campus Field.
Leslie Ahern scored the game's first goal at 27:47, taking a pass from Kristi Shepps and moving to flip a shot past Stow to give Lock Haven a 1-0 lead. Ahern and Shepps hooked up again early in the second half to make it 2-0 at 38:20. Shepps dribbled down the left side into the circle and dished a pass to Ahern for another one-on-one opportunity against Stow.
Lady Eagles goalkeeper Kelsey Moll denied a couple of good opportunities for SHU throughout the game. She came out aggressively to challenge a one-time by Karly Duven (Freehold, NJ) 15 minutes into the game, and also stopped Lindsay Kasten (Fair Haven, NJ) on a chance from in tight about seven minutes into the second half. She made another solid stop on a deflection attempt by Kasten off a corner with 18:30 to play.
