Field Hockey Downed by UConn 8-0


(Storrs, CT) – The Sacred Heart Field Hockey team fell to the UConn Huskies 8-0 Sunday afternoon.  Chloe Hunnable scored three times for UConn, including the first two goals of the game.

Alicia Angelini  found Hunnable for the first goal on a feed off a corner deep in the circle at 12:45.  Marie Elena Bolles gave Hunnable a baseline pass for her second goal at 28:52.  Katherine Baker closed out the first half scoring with an unassisted goal to give UConn a 3-0 halftime lead.

Chrissy Davidson found the back of the cage 38:24 on a dish inside from Elena Bolles from the top of the circle.  Hunnable scored for the third time at 42:33 on a pass from Davidson on a delayed corner.  Elspeth Mcgillvray struck from the top of the circle on a corner, with Baer and Elena Bolles picking up the assists.  Erin Koonz added a goal at 52:44 on a cross from the circle to the near post from Shannon Creghan.  Alicia closed out the scoring at 55:11 with an unassisted goal.

UConn outshot SHU 24-1, aided by 12 corner opportunities.  Mary Altepeter (Chesterfield, MO) made seven saves and Kelsey Cox (Monroe, CT) stopped five shots in splitting time in net for the Pioneers.

SHU is next in action on Sunday, September 2 on the road against Holy Cross.
