(Fairfield, CT) – The Sacred Heart Field Hockey team lost its conference opener against the Quinnipiac Bobcats 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Campus Field.
The Bobcats scored both of their goals in the first half. Jess Rusin opened the scoring at 18:59, taking a pass low inside the circle from Lauren Zimniski and knocking it inside the far post. Jennalise Taylor added to Quinnipiac's lead at 32:42, drilling a shot from the top of the circle following a penalty corner set up by Danielle Allen and touch pass by Rusin.
The Pioneers dictated the play in the second half, outshooting the Bobcats 10-3 in the final 35 minutes and 14-10 overall for the game. However, Nicole Lewis stopped everything that came her way, including nine second half shots on goal en route to making 12 saves overall for the shutout.
Sacred Heart is next in action Friday, October 12 at 4:00 pm.
