SHU Field Hockey Drops Season Finale 1-0 to Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (November 3, 2013)—The Sacred Heart field hockey team was rendered scoreless by the Bryant Bulldogs in the season finale. The Pioneers fell 1-0 at the Bryant Turf Complex Sunday afternoon. SHU finishes the 2013 season 4-12 overall and 0-5 in MAAC conference play.

Bryant outshot the Pioneers 6-4 in the first half, but both teams were held scoreless. In the 62nd minute of the game, Bryant's Rosie Bird took a corner, dishing the ball to Olivia Jankins who knocked it in just in front of the goal for the game's only score.

Liz Bergman (Blandon, Penn.) put all three of her shots on goal, accounting for half of SHU's SOG. Sophomore goalkeeper Mary Altepeter (Chesterfield, Mo.) recorded five saves in the match.
