SHU Field Hockey Continues Spring Schedule
The Sacred Heart field hockey team will continue its spring schedule in the MAAC Spring tournament hosted by Monmouth this coming Saturday, April 18. The following day, on Sunday, April 19th, SHU will host its annual Alumni Game.

17 Pioneers Earn Spot on NFHCA National Academic Squad
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year.

Student-athletes selected as Scholars of Distinction achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year.

Of the 78 NCAA Division I field hockey programs, the Sacred Heart University field hockey team compiled the third highest team GPA for the 2014 fall semester the NFHCA announced on Monday.

SHU Field Hockey Set to Host Spring Clinic March 29th
The clinic will be hosted on March 29th, 2015 at Campus Field from 10:00am-1:00pm with registration beginning at 9:30am. The registration is open to athletes of all levels currently in grades 8-12.

Bergman Named to NFHCA Mideast All-Region Team
Sacred Heart University senior midfielder, Liz Bergman, has been selected to the 2014 Longstreth /NFHCA Division I Mideast All-Region Second Team, it was announced today. Bergman becomes the first SHU field hockey player to be chosen to the team since Carisa Eye was selected in 2008.

Late Goal Not Enough as Pioneers Fall to Monmouth 2-1 in MAAC Semifinal
Liz Bergman tried to spark a late comeback as she converted a penalty stroke with 3:44 remaining, but the Sacred Heart University field hockey team could not produce another shot as top-seed and host Monmouth edged the Pioneers, 2-1, in semifinal action on Friday afternoon at So Sweet A Cat Field.

Pioneers Ready for First Postseason Appearance Since 2008
In what will be the program’s first postseason game since 2008, the Sacred Heart University field hockey team will travel to Monmouth University on Friday afternoon for the 2014 MAAC Field Hockey Tournament. The fourth-seeded Pioneers will battle with the top-seed and host Monmouth in semifinal action at 1:30 pm.

Sacred Heart Earns First Ever Victory Over Lock Haven 2-1
LOCK HAVEN, Penn. – Two first half goals and eight saves by Mary Altepeter propelled the Sacred Heart University field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Lock Haven on Saturday afternoon. The win was SHU’s first ever over the Bald Eagles as they had come into the matchup 0-11 all time, including a 4-0 loss last season.

Two Pioneers Honored With MAAC Player of the Week Award
EDISON, N.J. – Sacred Heart field hockey received two of the three MAAC Player of the Week awards announced on Tuesday. Goalkeeper Mary Altepeter (Chesterfield, Mo.) was named Defensive Player of the Week, while forward Olivia Volpe (Metuchen, N.J) received Rookie of the Week honors. The two helped the Pioneers finish with a 3-0 record for the week as they defeated Yale, Saint Louis, and Holy Cross.

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University field hockey team shutout Holy Cross 2-0 on Sunday evening to win their third straight match. A first half Liz Bergman goal would turn out to be the game-winner as the Pioneers held the Crusaders to only one shot on goal.

Sacred Heart Overcomes Early Deficit to Defeat Saint Louis 3-1
FAIRFIELD, CONN. – The Sacred Heart University Field Hockey team overcame an early deficit to come back and win their second straight as they beat Saint Louis 3-1 at Campus Field on Friday night. Two goals in a 44 second span late in the first half proved to be enough for the Pioneers.

NEW HAVEN, CONN. – The Sacred Heart University field hockey team was able to hold off a second half comeback on Monday night to record a 3-2 victory at Yale. The two met just two days after their original matchup was postponed due to weather less then two minutes into the game on Saturday.

SHU Field Hockey Earns Dramatic OT Victory in Season Opener
The Sacred Heart University Field Hockey team opened their season in dramatic fashion Friday night by defeating Villanova 2-1 in overtime on a goal by Danielle Gallagher with no time remaining on the clock. The game-winning goal was Gallagher’s second of the game.

Bergman Tabbed Preseason All-MAAC; SHU Picked Fifth in Poll
The Sacred Heart Field Hockey team was picked to finish fifth in the 2014 MAAC preseason poll released by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tuesday morning. The 2013 Champion Quinnipiac Bobcats were tabbed to once again finish atop the league.

24 Pioneers Named to 2013-14 MAAC Honor Roll
Twenty-four Sacred Heart University student-athletes were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Association 2013-14 Academic Honor Roll, which was announced Tuesday morning. A MAAC associate member for two of its 32 athletic programs, SHU saw 13 members of the field hockey team and 11 rowers honored for their work in the classroom.

Sacred Heart Field Hockey Releases 2014 Schedule
FAIRFIELD, CONN. (June 17, 2014)—Sacred Heart Field Hockey Head Coach Katie Kloeckener announced the Pioneers’ 2014 schedule Tuesday. SHU hopes to rebound from last year’s 4-13 season when it hosts Villanova in the season opener on August 29 at 7:00 p.m. on Campus Field.
