Rutgers Notches Two Late Goals to Defeat Field Hockey, 4-3

PISCATAWAY, NJ (September 27, 2009) - Junior midfielder Jenna Bull scored twice in the final six minutes to lift the Rutgers field hockey team over Sacred Heart, 4-3, Sunday afternoon. The loss, their fourth straight, dropped the Pioneers to 1-9 as the win was the Scarlet Knights' first of the season improving them to 1-9.
Sophomore forward Chelsea Carlson (Peterborough, NH/Contoocook) scored her third goal of the season on the final play of the first half to cut the Rutgers lead to 2-1. Junior Dana Luhrs (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) and freshman Karly Duven (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) each tallied a goal in the second half to give Sacred Heart a 3-2 edge.
Junior goalkeeper Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) recorded nine saves for the Pioneers. In the cage for the Scarlet Knights, freshman Vickie Lavell stopped two shots to earn her first victory of the season.
Sacred Heart returns to action at home next Sunday, October 4, at 12:00 pm against Rider.
