Field Hockey Ends 2009 Season With Win Over Robert Morris

FAIRFIELD, CT (November 1, 2009) – The Sacred Heart University field hockey team won its season finale, 5-0, over Robert Morris on Campus Field Sunday afternoon.  Senior forward Kelsey Zeyher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington Senior) powered the Pioneer offense with a pair of second half goals.  SHU completed the 2009 campaign at 4-15 overall and 3-5 in the Northeast Conference, while the Colonials finished 2-13 and 1-7.

 

Zeyher got the Pioneers on the board early with a goal in the second minute.  Junior Stephanie Fazio (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon) carried the ball down the left side and found an open Zeyher to collect the assist on the opening score.

 

In the second half, junior Dana Luhrs (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) added her fourth goal of the season and contributed an assist to a goal by sophomore Chelsea Carlson (Peterborough, NH/Contoocook).  Senior Whitney Russo (Waterville, ME/Waterville Senior) finished the day by adding the fourth goal of the half for the Pioneers.

 

Junior goalkeeper Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) stopped four shots to record her second straight shutout.  In the cage for RMU, junior Stephanie Seeley made six saves.
