Sept. 15, 2009

FAIRFIELD, CT - Junior Dana Luhrs (Milford, PA) has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week for the week for the week ending September 13.

Luhrs tallied five points to help Sacred Heart snap its five-game losing skid. The midfielder scored two goals less than 15 minutes apart and set up another in the Pioneers' 4-3 overtime defeat of Bucknell.

After the Bison took a 2-0 lead, Luhrs pulled Sacred Heart even with back-to-back goals, the second of which came in the 39th minute. With Bucknell back in front, 3-2, the NEC Player of the Week once again worked to tie the game. Luhrs sent a ball toward the net that Kim Pobutkiewicz would put past the keeper to force overtime.

The Pioneers are back in action on Thursday, hostng Maine at Yale University at 7 pm.
