Luhrs and Russo Nab NEC Post-Season Honors

SOMERSET, NJ – Senior Whitney Russo (Waterville, ME/Waterville Senior) and junior Dana Luhrs (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) were named to the All-Northeast Conference Field Hockey Second Team for the 2009 season.

Russo, a midfielder, completed the season with one assist and two goals, including the game winner in a 4-3 non-conference overtime victory over Bucknell.  Luhrs ranked tied for second on the Pioneers in scoring with four goals and three assists.  She was also named the NEC Player of the Week on September 14 after scoring twice and adding an assist in the win over Bucknell.

Sacred Heart finished the season with an overall record of 4-15 and 3-5 in the NEC.  The Pioneers ended the season winning their final two games, both at home, 1-0 over St. Francis (NY) and 5-0 over Robert Morris.
