Women’s Golf in Action at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (September 18, 2010) – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team completed the first day of competition at the Princeton Invitational with a team score of 633.  The Pioneers are currently in ninth out of 12 at the par-72 6,131-yard Springdale Golf Club.

Sophomore Gabriella Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) posted a team-best 152 score by shooting a 76 in the first and second round.  Junior Carly Bergin (Binghamton, N.Y.) finished second for the Pioneers with a 153.  She shot a 78 in the first round and a team-low 75 in the second.

Junior Michelle Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) book an 84-81 for a total of 165.  Freshman Jennifer Clinton shot an 80-87 to total 167, while senior Kelsey Shine (Southborough, Mass.) posted a 94-83, 177.

After day one Yale is in the lead with a team score of 594.  The host Tigers sit, just two strokes back of the Bulldogs at 596.  Georgetown (606), Pennsylvania (608), and Harvard (612) round out the top five.
