MILFORD, Conn. - The Sacred Heart women's golf team finished fourth, out of 10, at the Sacred Heart Fall Classic, this afternoon. The classic, held at the Great River Golf Course, was won by Yale University.
Yale's Seo Hee Moon won the event with a two-day total of 148. On the 16th hole of the second round, she shot a hole-in-one on her way to a one-over 73 for the day. For the Pioneers, junior Carly Bergin (Binghamton, N.Y.) led the team with a sixth place finish after shooting a 157 over the course of the classic.
Sophomore Gabriella Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) was second on the team with a total of 161. In the second round, she shot a team-best for the weekend 76. Junior Michelle Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) recorded the third-best score for SHU with a 167.
Rounding out the event for the Pioneers, sophomore Claire McGovern (Escondido, Calif.) shot a 172, while freshman Jennifer Clinton registered a 173.
Sacred Heart was in second place at the end of play on day one. Overall the team shot a 653 to finish fourth. Yale took the win with a team score of 623. Twenty strokes back, Brown (643) finished in second, while St. John's (649) went for third.
The Pioneers have one final event in their fall season as they head to the Fairleigh Dickinson Invitational on November 1 and 2.
