Women’s Golf in Second Place after First Round of Lonnie Barton Invitational
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sacred Heart women's golf team wrapped up the opening round of the Lonnie Barton Invitational at LPGA International on Monday in second place among four other Northeast Conference teams. Senior Gabriella Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) led the field with a six-over 78, and takes a one-shot lead into Tuesday's final round.
Malin Wallhede (Molnlycke, Sweden) and Brianna Carnahan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) each fired 85s on Monday, putting them tied for 13th overall. Carnahan was one of six players to card two birdies on the day. Jennifer Clinton (Sayville, N.Y.) also placed in the top-25 in the first round with an 88. As a team, the Pioneers enter Tuesday 10 shots behind LIU Brooklyn. Sacred Heart shot a combined 336 (+48) on the day, with the Blackbirds posting a +38 on the day.
