BARRINGTON, R.I. – The Sacred Heart women's golf team finished the Brown Bear Invitational at the Rhode Island Country Club on Monday in 14th place.
Brianna Carnahan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) was the Pioneers' top finisher in the tournament, carding an 83 on Monday to give her a two-day total of 170. Carnahan improved by four strokes from Sunday to finish in a tie for 52nd place. Freshman Malin Wallhede (Molnlycke, Sweden) cut five strokes off her first round total Tuesday to also post an 83, finishing tied for 57th with a two-day score of 171. Jennifer Clinton (Sayville, N.Y.) recorded a two-day score of 174 and Gabriella Riber (Stockholm, Sweden) had a total score of 180 to round out Sacred Heart's scoring group.
The Pioneers finished the tournament with a team score of 695, one stroke behind Quinnipiac. Yale won the team competiton, with Seton Hall finishing second. Harvard, Columbia, and St. John's rounded out the top five.
Sacred Heart now prepares for the Northeast Conference Championship, which will be held April 26-28 at the LPGA International Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.
