Kelsey Hayward Tied For Fifth After First Round Of St. John’s Women’s Invitational

QUEENS, N.Y. – Junior Kelsey Hayward (Seekonk, Mass.) was able to beat a torrential downpour in the first round of the St. John's Women's Invitational to card a 78 that put her in a tie for fifth on Monday.

Hayward's six-over par score at the Eisenhower Park White Course put her three strokes behind the two leaders and one shot behind a duo tied for third. Freshman Stephanie Lowe (Cedar Park, Texas) was also able to finish her round, putting up an 89 to put her in a tie for 49th. Jennifer Clinton (Sayville, N.Y.) and Ellen Nighbor (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) were unable to finish their rounds on Monday and will complete it Tuesday morning prior to the second round.
