Sacred Heart Tied For 15th After First Round Of Rutgers Women’s Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Sacred Heart women's golf team finished the opening round of the Rutgers Women's Invitational on Monday tied for 15th place at Rutgers University Golf Course.

Junior Kelsey Hayward (Seekonk, Mass.) was the Pioneers' low scorer on Monday, carding a five-over 77. Hayward enters Tuesday's final round tied for 15th overall, four strokes behind the leaders. Jennifer Clinton (Sayville, N.Y.) posted an 81 in the first round, putting her tied for 39th. Freshmen Ellen Nighbor (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Stephanie Lowe (Cedar Park, Texas) rounded out the Sacred Heart scoring group with scores of 86 and 91 respectively.

As a team, Sacred Heart tied with Monmouth for 15th with team scores of 335. The Pioneers were one shot behind Fairfield and Central Connecticut for 13th place. Delaware and Seton Hall tied for the team lead after Monday's round, followed by Bucknell, St. John's, and Fairleigh Dickinson.

The final round begins Tuesday morning.
