WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Sacred Heart women's golf team finished the first 36 holes of the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate Monday in 13th place at the Kingsmill Resort Plantation Course.
Freshman Alejandra Perez (Zaragoza, Spain) was the Pioneers' low scorer Monday, carding rounds of 82 and 78 on the par-72 course to put her at +16 and in 32nd place. Ellen Nighbor (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) is one stroke behind Perez in a tie for 33rd at +17, putting together rounds of 81 and 80. Kelsey Hayward (Seekonk, Mass.) is tied for 58th after the first two rounds at +25. Abigail Hood (Gloucester, Mass.) rounded out the scoring group at +37, improving by nine strokes from the first round to the second.
Sacred Heart was 54 strokes over par after the morning round, and improved by 13 strokes in the second round. At +95 for the tournament, the Pioneers are one stroke ahead of 14th place Presbyterian. Delaware leads the tournament at +32, six strokes ahead of hosts William & Mary.
The final round of the tournament starts at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
