MILFORD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart women's golf team capped its 2017 Fall season with a victory at the SHU Fall Classic held at Great River Golf Club.
SHU earned the team title at the SHU Fall Classic for the second consecutive season, finishing with a team score of 641 in the two-round event at their home course. 17 strokes ahead of second place Navy who finished second with a score of 656. Hofstra rounded out the top three with a score of 678.
All five players in the Pioneers scoring group finished in the top 10 on the leaderboard. Junior Chelsea Sedlar was the Pioneers top finisher at +13, she shot a six-over, 78 in the final round to finish third overall. Sophomore Ana Contreras finished one stroke back in fourth place with a two-day score of 158. Senior Abigail Hood bounced back in round two, carding a 79 to finish 19-over par to tie for fifth place. Alejandra Perez shot a 20-over 164 to finish seventh on the leader board. Senior Estee Deschamps rounded out the Pioneers scoring group with a two-day score of 168 to tie for ninth.
Senior Lauren Pelster competed as an individual, carding an 83 in the final round to finish tied for 14th at 25-over. Freshman Maya Isom also improved on the second day to finish 27-over and tied for 18th as an individual. Junior Chrissie Wojciechowski finished 27-over par to round out the top 20.
The Pioneers will head into the spring season looking to defend its Northeast Conference Women's Golf championship title.
