DAYTONA BEACH, Fl.— The Sacred Heart University women's golf team closed out the 2017-18 season with a second-place finish at the Northeast Conference Women's Golf Championship on Sunday. The Pioneers carded a third-round score of 325 to finish with an overall score of 972 at the Hills Course at LPGA International.
SHU has finished in the top two in each of the last three seasons, including the program's first title a season ago. Fairleigh Dickinson claimed the team title with a 67-over par score of 943. LIU Brooklyn rounded out the top three with a score of 983.
Junior Chelsea Sedlar was the Pioneers top finisher with a final score of 17-over par. Sedlar carded an 82 in the final round to finish three strokes off the lead in third place.
Senior Abigail Hood scored her second five-over 78 of the tournament in round three. She recorded the third top-five finish of her career in her final NEC Championship at 18-over par. Classmate Lauren Pelster carded a weekend low round of nine-over 82 to finish 17th overall.
Fellow Senior Alejandra finished the third and final round with a 13-over 86 to finish tied for 19th overall. Sophomore Ana Contreras fired a weekend low round of 10-over 83 to cap her first NEC appearance 25th overall.
