Women's Golf Finishes Seventh at Hartford Invitational

The Sacred Heart women's golf team shaved seven strokes off its first-round score in the final round of the University of Hartford Invitational and finished in seventh place out of 11 teams after a second-round score of 331. Rutgers won the event easily, finishing 17 strokes ahead of the closest competitor.

Carly Bergin led the Pioneers with a 163 total, shooting an 81 in the second round. She finished tied for 15th in the medalist race. Sophomore Michelle Riber was one of only 14 golfers in the 64-person field to shoot a round in the 70's on Tuesday with a 79.

Claire McGovern shot two strokes better than her first round, finishing with an 83 on Tuesday. Freshman Gabriella Riber finished with a 174 total after a second-round 88.
