ASTON, Pa. - The Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team dropped its second game of the weekend, 6-0, at Neumann University on Saturday evening. The weekend sweep dropped the Pioneers to 8-19 overall, while the Knights improved to 15-6-4 on the year.
Neumann scored four of its six goals in the first period en route to the win, its third of the season over SHU. Jessica Schroeder scored twice in the first and added an assist, while Dru Austin chipped in with two more goals for the Knights.
Sacred Heart outshot Neumann 39-35 for the game, but Knights goaltender Shannon Donnelly was perfect between the pipes as she turned away every shot from the Pioneers to earn the shutout victory.
Freshman Alexius Schutt (Elk River, Minn.) stopped 28 shots in 52 minutes between the pipes. while junior Raelen Sydor (St. Albert, Alta.) made one save in relief.
The Pioneers close the book on the 2010-'11 season next weekend as they compete in the ECAC Open Championship at St. Michael's on February 26 and 27.
