Bridgeport, CT- The Sacred Heart Pioneer Women's Ice Hockey team was defeated by Brown by a score of 10-0 at the Wonderland of Ice Wednesday night.
Brown got off to an early start scoring their first goal 2:54 into the first period, when Brittany Moorehead scored on an unassisted short-handed goal. The Pioneers and Bears played the next 14:36 with no score until Brown found the back of the net when Alena Polenska scored on assists from Jacquie Pierri and Jennifer Nedow. The Bears would add one more goal in the first period to make it 3-0 going into the first intermission.
Brown would score their fourth goal of the game on a power play goal from Emilie Dolan, which was her first of two goals on the night. Brown would end up scoring 3 more goals in the period, to make it a 7-0 lead for the Bears at the second intermission.
Brown would add their eighth and ninth goals of the game only 19 seconds apart from each other, 3:02 into the period. The first of the two goals coming on Dolan's second of the night on an assist from Nedow. Then Vika Mykolenko added her second goal of the game of an assist from Dolan. Brown would add another goal with 11:35 remaining in the period.
Alexius Schutt (Elk River, MN) had 44 saves on the night for the Pioneers. While her counterparts Aubree Moore and Katie Jamieson had 9 and 8 saves a piece for Brown.
The Pioneers are back in action Friday night at the Wonderland of Ice when they take on Wesleyan at 7:00.
