Pioneers Comeback Falls Short at Franklin Pierce
Winchendon, MA – The Sacred Heart women's hockey team scored two goals in the third period but could not complete the comeback, as they fell 3-2 at Franklin Pierce Friday night. Karsyn Baker notched three points in the Ravens victory. The Pioneers had previously beaten Franklin Pierce three times in a row. The Pioneers fall to 16-12-2 on the season.
Michaela Faia and Karsyn Baker combined for both goals for the Ravens in the first period, as they took the 2-0 lead. Faia scored both goals, putting the first goal in at 3:22 and then the second goal at 19:43.
Karsyn Baker scored an unassisted goal at 12:31 in the second period to take the 3-0 lead.
The Pioneers' Cara Curran (Westford, MA) cut into the Ravens' lead when she lit the lamp on a power play at the 5:18 of the third period. Curran's power play goal was assisted by Natasha Klinoff (Concord, MA) and Catie Ladner (Chaska, MN). Junior Melissa Robbins (Nashua, NH) scored the final goal for the Pioneers at 11:09 of the third period. Robbins was assisted by Whitney Henderson (Elkins, PA) and Casey Stathopoulos (Waltham, MA).
