  • Women's Hockey Defeats St. Michael's in Shootout

    WORCESTER, Mass – After four clutch saves by senior goalie Mandy Montgomery (Grand Ledge, MI), junior forward Melissa Robbins (Nashua, NH) knocked home the lone shoot-out goal to lift the Pioneers to a 2-1 win over St. Michael’s in the ECAC Open Consolation Game Sunday afternoon. SHU wins third place in the ECAC Open for the third consecutive season and closes its season with a record of 6-16-7.

    BRIDGEPORT, Conn – On a day where the Sacred Heart women’s hockey team honored its nine departing seniors, it was junior Alex Davis (Pembroke, MA) knocking one home to tie Franklin Pierce in the third period and salvage a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon at the Wonderland of Ice. The Pioneers finish the regular season 6-14-6.

Ladner will wear the red C, while Hanna and Klinoff will serve as assistant captains.

    BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – A goal from junior forward Melissa Robbins (Nashua, NH) broke up a 1-1 tie with just 2:21 left in the game to lift the Pioneer women’s hockey team to a victory over Rhode Island 2-1 Saturday afternoon at the Wonderland of Ice. Sacred Heart is now 2-0 for the first time since 2006.

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart women’s ice hockey team opens up their 2013-14 schedule this weekend with a pair of home contests against the University of Rhode Island. The Pioneers, headed by Head Coach Tom O’Malley in his 11th year, are coming off an extremely successful 18-13-2 season in 2012-13. Sacred Heart finished third in the ECAC Tournament last season, defeating St. Michael’s 3-2 in the consolation game at the Wonderland of Ice.
