Former Pioneer Kate Citarella Named Women’s Hockey Assistant Coach
Fairfield, CT – Sacred Heart women's hockey coach Tom O'Malley announced the hiring of former Pioneer Kate Citarella as the team's new assistant coach for the 2013-14 season.
Citarella graduated from Sacred Heart in 2010 with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and completed a Masters of Applied Psychology from SHU in 2011. The 2-year team captain played four years under Head Coach Tom O'Malley from 2007-2010. As a senior, Citarella was nominated for the Patty Kazmaier award, which is awarded annually to the top player in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey. Citarella finished her Pioneer career with 63 points on 28 goals and 35 assists.
Citarella is a native of Flesherton, Ontario and currently lives in Hamden, Connecticut with her husband Ryan and daughter Rylynn.
