MIDDLETOWN, Conn – For the third straight game the Sacred Heart women's ice hockey team played bonus hockey, this time tying Wesleyan University 1-1 Tuesday night at Spurrier-Snyder Rink. SHU has played into overtime in three consecutive games, going 0-1-2 in that span.
Senior goalie Alexius Schutt (Elk River, MN) notched 51 saves for Sacred Heart (3-5-3), including 18 in the second period to keep the Pioneers in the game. Schutt also made six big saves in the overtime period to keep the score tied.
Down 1-0, Sacred Heart tied the game up on an Alanna Woodford (Scituate, MA) unassisted goal at 13:08 of the second period. Woodford knocked home a wrist shot behind a well-executed screen to score her first goal of the season.
Sacred Heart will take Thanksgiving weekend off and be back in action on December 6th when they play host to Williams at the Wonderland of Ice.
