HERSHEY, Pa. – Sacred Heart women's ice hockey won by an 11-0 margin, with Taylor Moreland going past 100 career points on Friday afternoon. The Pioneers improved to 11-3, while the Dutchmen fell to 2-5-2.
SHU's first tally of the game was a short-handed goal by the Pioneers' leading scorer, Taylor Moreland, who netted her 15th of the season. Later in the first, Lilly Cleary found the back of the net and SHU went into the first intermission with a two-goal advantage.
In the second period, the Pioneers padded their lead with five goals despite Moffatt making 24 saves in the period. The Dutchmen saw a few chances, but were unable to break through and SHU went into the third period with a 7-0 advantage. In the third, the Pioneers scored four more times en route to the 11-0 win.
SHU's Devan Kane made five stops to earn the win, with Moffatt finished with an impressive 77 saves after facing 88 shots. SHU held the edge in total faceoff wins at 40-25, Lexi Edwards leading the Pioneers, goin 15-for-19 from inside the faceoff circle.
Both teams complete their two game series Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1:30 pm
