Hauser and Wagner Honored as All-Americans Post Season Honors

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (June 2, 2010) - Sacred Heart graduates Carissa Hauser (East Northport, NY) and Chelsea Wagner (Aurora, CO) were named to the Division I All-American third team announced by the website this week. The duo continues to rack up the postseason honors after both earned spots on the IWLCA/Under Armour North-South Senior All-Star Game roster and Wagner took home IWLCA All-North Region honors.

Hauser was named the 2010 Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Year after posting a league-leading 79 points on the year. Hauser finished with 47 goals and 32 assists, marks that ranked her fourth in the NEC in goals per game (2.61) and third in assists per gam (1.78). Among NCAA leaders, she ranked 11th in points scored, 13th in points per game (4.39), 18th in assists and 17th in assists per game. She also led the team and NEC and was 11th in the nation with 63 draw controls.

The senior attacker finished her Sacred Heart as the program's Division I record holder in career points (220) and career goals (138) and second in career assists (82).

Wagner, who last week became the first Pioneer in program history to earn a spot on the all-regional team, closed out a stellar senior season in goal by earning the NEC's Defensive Player of the Year award. She was the nation's leading goalkeeper in save percentage, stopping 57.7% of the shots she faced. She led the NEC with a 7.97 goals against average and 173 saves while posting a 13-4 record. In 11 games against Northeast Conference competition, Wagner held teams to 5.67 goals per game.

She ranked fifth in the NCAA in goals against average, seventh in saves and seventh in saves per game (10.0). She ended her SHU career as the program's all-time winningest goalie with 44 career wins. Her 692 career saves rank second all-time while her 9.29 career goals against average and .533 career save percentage both rank third.
